It looks like we'll easily pass 60 inches of snow, maybe 65 this season. All in all a tough winter for biking - I'm guessing some of this 'concretified' snow will still be around in May.

As Spring's just a little over two weeks away, this weekend seemed like a final chance to take a look
at our winter visitors. The Detroit and Rouge Rivers create a wonderful haven for wintering birds. So much so
that the University of Michigan maintains a prestigious migration observatory along the Rouge in Dearborn. Not only is the research of use in
planning for the wetlands around the lakes, but many of these little visitors also provide a valuable early warning
for any changes in levels of environmental toxins.
So, with binoculars in hand, Claudia, I and as it turned out, about 50 billion rhinovirii, headed up the river towards Belle Isle.
[Update] Thanks to Stylurus for checking our IDs!
